Constructed for the German Federal Garden Show (BUGA) in 1999, the Millennium Tower is a masterpiece due to both its architecture and contents. The overall artistic concept behind this unique 60 metre high construction stemmed from the Swiss sculptor Johannes Peter Staub. The wooden building is made from glued timber trusses and contains an integrated exhibition about 6000 years of human and technological development.

The Millennium Tower is also affectionately known as the “smartest tower in the world” due to its 6 exhibition levels, which contain 250 exhibits and displays showing how the world has changed and mankind has developed over the past 6000 years. This interactive journey through time is open for you to experience and put to the test during the summer season, from April to October.

On the exterior of the tower, you can climb the ramp up to the 43 metre high viewing platform and enjoy a breathtaking view over the Elbauenpark, Magdeburg and, in clear weather, of the Brocken Mountain, the highest peak in the Harz mountain range. The domed hall is 20 metres high and provides an ideal unique setting for formal evening events with up to 500 guests, such as receptions, presentations, benefit galas, conference and congress events, variety shows or fashion shows. The auditorium on level 4 also offers a historical setting for lectures and Information events for up to 100 people.

Only the ground level (domed hall) of the Millennium Tower is wheelchair and pushchair accessible. The other levels are unfortunately only accessible by stairs.

Admission to the Millennium Tower is included in the Elbauenpark entrance fee.
