Stadthalle Magdeburg - A Portrait

The Stadthalle (civic hall) was constructed in 1927 on the occasion of the German Theatre Exhibition and is built in the style of the German “Neues Bauen” (New Building) architectural movement. It is located on the Rotehorn Island at the heart of the beautiful Rotehornpark, situated right in the city centre directly opposite Magdeburg Cathedral. The Stadthalle is a prominent location for classical music, theatre, musicals, revues, ballet, balls, sports shows and, as one would expect nowadays, also for rock and pop music events.
The functionality of the building is increased by its varied array of rooms, all fitted with technical equipment, alongside its sophisticated service facilities and impressive general set-up. Rooms with areas ranging from 182m² to 1337m² are available for all kinds of event. While the main hall, with a standing capacity of 4000 or seating capacity of 2000, is suited for larger events, the Blüthner Hall has a seating capacity of 200 and is available for selected receptions and smaller events. Directly adjacent to the Stadthalle is an open air area which is ideal for events with up to 6,000 visitors.
Sanitary facilities and entrances are certified handicapped accessible.
